Fiberglass Pool Manufacturing
Laminated Composite Construction
The mold is cleaned and inspected for any defects. If necessary, the mold is refurbished in our mold department. Frekote is applied to the mold so the mold will separate from the pool shell.
The primary application of 35 mills of our Gel Coat or Ocean Reef's unique Ultra-Granicoat* finish is applied giving each pool a gorgeous, non-porous finish. After this we add 15 mills of a quality back-coat color of your choice. This gives a depth and strength to the surface.
The second layer is 100 mills of quality fiberglass chop mixed with our epoxy-modified resin to form a marine grade Vinyl-Ester resin that is then handcrafted onto the mold. When the fiberglass is combined with the resin, it provides the greatest impact resistance and optimum blister protection available. This breakthrough formula has become the benchmark in the fiberglass pool industry. We then apply on 90 mills of Polyester Resin and Fiberglass Chop to seal and coat the fiberglass/resin layer. We end the process by wrapping an unheard of 24 oz. of woven roving onto the pool to complete the process. Our rigid quality control continues throughout the entire manufacturing process, ending with the entire fiberglass pool being weighed at the end for material consistancy.
